Draft. This document is a working draft pending review by Gracefully Truthful Ministries and legal counsel; it will be finalized before the app is submitted to the App Store. Questions are welcome at contact@gracefullytruthful.com.

Gracefully Truthful Ministries (“we”, “us”) built the Gracefully Truthful app so women can read Scripture-rooted studies, reflect, and journal. This policy describes what the app stores, what reaches our servers, and the choices you have. The short version: reading requires no account, your journal is private, and when you delete your account we delete your data — actually delete it.

Reading without an account

You can use the app fully without signing in. In that mode we hold no account record for you: studies are fetched anonymously, and your reading progress, journal entries, and settings live only on your device. A random device identifier (a UUID the app creates, tied to nothing about you) accompanies requests for rate-limiting, optional reminders, and Scripture-license reporting; it is not linked to your name, email, or any account unless you later create one.

If you create an account

An account (email code, Sign in with Apple, or Google) exists for one purpose: keeping your progress, journal, and settings in sync across your devices. We store:

  • Your sign-in identity — the email address (or the identifier Apple/Google provides) used to verify you. We never see or store a password.
  • Reading progress — which studies you opened and completed, and when.
  • Journal entries — your private reflections. They are transmitted over TLS and stored encrypted at rest. They are not end-to-end encrypted; like most synced services, our systems can technically access them — but we treat them as pastorally confidential: they are never read, analyzed, used to train anything, shared, or sold, and they never appear in logs or analytics.
  • Settings — reminder time, text size, and similar preferences.

Daily reminders

If you turn on the daily reminder, we store your device’s push token, timezone, and chosen reminder time so we can send one gentle notification a day. Notifications may mention the day’s study title (public content); they never contain your journal or progress. Turning reminders off removes the schedule.

Scripture licensing

Bible text (Christian Standard Bible®) is served through our own systems under license. As the license requires, we report anonymous display counts to our Scripture provider (API.Bible) — these reports contain the anonymous device identifier and never your email, name, or account identity.

What we don’t do

  • No advertising, ad identifiers, or cross-app tracking.
  • No sale or sharing of personal data with third parties.
  • No analytics on journal content — ever.
  • No data collected from children; the app is intended for adults.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of processors to run the service: hosting (Vercel), database (Supabase/PostgreSQL), transactional email (SparkPost, for sign-in codes), push delivery (Expo/Apple/Google), and Scripture text (API.Bible). Each receives only what its function requires.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account inside the app (Settings → Account) or on the web at app.gracefullytruthful.com/delete-account. Deletion is a hard purge, effective immediately: your account, sign-in identities, progress, journal entries, and settings are permanently removed from our systems in one transaction — no retention window, no soft delete. Content already on your device remains yours.
